Nutbrook Piste
This is part of the Nutbrook piste. For competitions we usually set up 10 lanes.
The Club was formed in West Hallam, Derbyshire, during early 1993 and was called The Punchbowl Petanque Club.  However, following a change of venue in 1999 to the Nutbrook Cricket Club ground it was re-named The Nutbrook Petanque Club.

During the autumn of 1992, a pair of enthusiastic Petanque players thought it would be a good community-based sport to introduce to the village of West Hallam, as it is a sport that can be played by all ages and abilities.   They, together with a group of like-minded friends approached the landlord of The Punchbowl Pub to see if he would allow part of his car park to be used for the game of Petanque.  Not only was he welcoming, but agreed to lay a suitable gravel piste and fencing at the
back of the car park at his own expense!  Following an inaugural meeting in May 1993, the club was up and running with 18 members!  The club was then registered with the British Petanque Association, and this membership is renewed each year.
The Club gained momentum, and with advertising and local news coverage, the club grew to well over 30 members.   A full programme was created during the year, with ‘club night’ being on a Friday evening during the Summer months, and for those members who could not get enough of the game, they started meeting on Sundays at noon all during the year.   Local clubs and societies were invited along to introduce them to the game, and from these evenings the club gained more members.    Club competitions were soon started, and the Chairman’s Shield,
